This Friday 16th August Toulon Rugby Club will play at Montpellier in the opening match of the Top 14 new season (kick off 20:45).
It's a special match for the ex RCT hooker Mickaël Ivaldi, who has moved on to count himself among the Montpellier ranks.
The native of La Seyne-sur-Mer (just outside Toulon), who has always played in the Var, was happy to give his thoughts to us here at rctoulon.com, before this match against his old team-mates. "When the fixture list came out I though it was quite funny. I had loads of calls. I think it's quite nice to play against my old club. I'm taking it in a positive way. Several of my family are going to make the trip".
Mickaël Ivaldi is quite aware that it will be a hard fought contest: "I know that it'll be a big match. We have to prepare well. It's important for us to get a good start. The stadium is already sold out. I hope it will be a great game".
Finally the young hooker of 23 told us how he is settling at the Herault club. "It was a little difficult at first as much as it's the first time I've left Toulon. Although I have been lacking match practice the friendly matches have been useful. I played a half against Grenoble and another against Leicester. I felt good."
So a swift reunion on Friday for Mickaël Ivaldi with his old team-mates. You can follow the match with live commentary on rctoulon.com (French commentary).
